Detonating Cords PDF Print

Since modern blasting techniques use more and more gentle blasting processes with a detonating cord, Meissner also offers machines for the production of detonating cords.

The production of detonating cords is performed in several independent steps the first of which is carried out by the spinning machine which covers the core, usually Nitropenta (PETN), with two or three sheathings by means of a textile thread. The spinning machines can be re-equipped for different loading weights (from 3 g/m up to 100 g/m).

During the spinning, the crude cord is permanently controlled with respect to the homogeneity of the loading. Defects of the cord are marked. The crude cord is wound on coils and transported to the room where the injection moulding machine is installed. Here the cord is sheathed with PVC or PE. Then the sheathed cord is wound on commercial coils and cut in order to obtain commercial lengths. During this step the machine discovers the labels marking defect points, and insufficient cord sections are cut off.
